South Devon Wedding Photographer

I’m a South Devon-based wedding photographer in Totnes and work with couples in the South West - Devon, Cornwall and Somerset - across the UK and worldwide.

I approach each wedding with fresh eyes as each wedding is unique. My ultimate goal is to deliver a high standard of personal service and amazing photographs that tell a beautiful story of your wedding day.

To me photographing a wedding is about capturing spontaneous and true moments and documenting the connection and love that is shared between you, your family and friends in an unobtrusive way.

My way of working is relaxed without the need for posing so you get to fully enjoy your day with the photography having minimal impact on you and your guests. Of course, a few group photos are important to capture ( not obligatory) and I always spend some time with my wedding couples, focussing on beautiful portraits of just the bride and groom.

I only take on around 10 weddings each year as I devote a lot of time to each client before/ during and after the wedding and next to photographing weddings I also work as a commercial Portrait/ Brand/ Editorial photographer, of which my work you can see here

To give you an idea of each part of the wedding process, I have written about what normally happens before, during and after a wedding. If there is anything I haven’t covered, or if you have any questions feel free to get in touch.

BEFORE THE WEDDING

We’ll have a few meetings before the wedding either in person or via Zoom/ Facetime. I would love to get to know you both, so we already have a connection before I shoot your wedding. I’ll give you all the advice you need and we can discuss the finer details of your plans. Closer to the wedding day, I will send you a form where I’ll ask you for all the details that are important for me to know such as specific timings, names of important people, addresses, group photo list, details of venue and additional info you might want to share, so we are all on the same page.

I always familiarise myself with the venue beforehand,  so I know where the good spots and beautiful light will be on the day so we can bear this in mind on the actual wedding day.

DURING THE WEDDING

Most of the day I work intuitively and discretely guided by what I see. So much happens on a wedding day, I love focusing on the connections; capturing people in the moment, the details, the laughter, the tears, and moments in between. I move around a lot, always trying to be as unobtrusive as possible. Every wedding is different, so I very much go with the flow.  Most people do like to have some family portraits taken, which I plan beforehand so they don t take up too much time. I highly recommend taking some time to focus on beautiful couple shots in and around the grounds. Of course, you don’t have to, if you would prefer not to take this time away from your guests. Often my clients say after that they really enjoyed this time, as it actually gives them some time to just be together and these are portraits you will cherish for time to come.

AFTER THE WEDDING

All the images go through an extensive process of editing. My style of post-production is done in a style that is true to the real colours with a nice punchy contrast. The best way to see this is to have a look through my portfolio to give you a feel for my style of working. I always edit my images with a combination of both black and white & colour and together they will tell a story of the day. I work on each individual image to get the best out of each image.

After a week, I will send you a preview of around 20 images of highlights of the day and the final edit will be presented to you, your family and friends through an online downloadable gallery around 4 weeks after the wedding.
